Stairlift & Patient Hoist Inspections

LOLER thorough examinations for stairlifts, through-floor lifts, ceiling hoists and patient handling equipment.

LDN Inspection Services provides statutory LOLER thorough examinations for stairlifts, patient hoists and all mobility lifting equipment. Our qualified engineer surveyors inspect equipment in care homes, hospitals, and private residences, delivering clear digital reports with photographic evidence.

Stairlift & Hoist Inspections

Stairlifts, through-floor lifts, ceiling hoists and patient hoists are all classified as lifting equipment under the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER). Because this equipment is used to lift persons, it must be thoroughly examined by a competent person at least every 6 months.

Care sector lifting equipment is subject to frequent use and carries vulnerable people. Mechanical wear, electrical faults, and structural fatigue must be identified before they lead to a failure that could cause injury. A thorough examination is a statutory safety inspection, separate from routine servicing.

Our inspections cover stairlifts, through-floor lifts, ceiling track hoists, mobile patient hoists, standing hoists, bath hoists, pool hoists and all associated slings and accessories. We provide clear, actionable reports.

Key Requirements

  • Thorough examination at least every 6 months (lifts persons)
  • Slings examined separately at least every 6 months
  • Examination separate from routine servicing
  • Reports retained and defects acted upon promptly
  • CQC expects compliance for registered care providers
