MEWP Inspections
LOLER thorough examinations for scissor lifts, boom lifts, cherry pickers and all mobile elevated work platforms.
LDN Inspection Services provides statutory LOLER thorough examinations for all types of MEWPs. Our IPAF-accredited engineer surveyors inspect scissor lifts, boom lifts, cherry pickers and specialist platforms, delivering detailed digital reports with photographic evidence.
MEWP Thorough Examinations
Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs) -- including scissor lifts, boom lifts and cherry pickers -- are classified as lifting equipment under LOLER because they carry people at height. As such, they require thorough examination by a competent person at least every 6 months.
A thorough examination is a statutory safety inspection that goes beyond routine servicing. It assesses the structural integrity of the platform, the hydraulic and mechanical systems, all safety devices, and the overall condition of the machine to determine whether it is safe for continued use.
Whether you own MEWPs, hire them out, or operate them on site, you have legal obligations under LOLER to ensure they are thoroughly examined at the required intervals and that any defects are addressed promptly.
Key Requirements
- Thorough examination at least every 6 months (lifts people)
- Examination before first use and after any major repair
