Lift Inspections

Thorough examinations for passenger lifts, goods lifts, platform lifts, stairlifts and all lift installations under LOLER.

LDN Inspection Services provides statutory LOLER thorough examinations for all types of lifts and lifting platforms. Our qualified engineer surveyors deliver detailed digital reports with photographic evidence, ensuring your lifts remain safe and compliant.

Lift Thorough Examinations

All lifts used in the workplace or provided for use by the public must be thoroughly examined under the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER). This applies to passenger lifts, goods lifts, platform lifts, stairlifts, and any other equipment used to raise or lower people or loads between fixed levels.

The duty holder -- typically the building owner, landlord, or managing agent -- is legally responsible for ensuring thorough examinations are carried out by a competent person at the required intervals. Failure to comply can result in HSE enforcement action, fines, and increased liability in the event of an accident.

Our independent thorough examinations are separate from routine maintenance. We assess the overall safety of the lift installation, identify defects, and provide clear recommendations to help you maintain compliance and protect users.

Key Requirements

  • Passenger lifts examined at least every 6 months
  • Goods-only lifts examined at least every 12 months
  • Examinations must be carried out by a competent person
  • Reports must be kept and defects acted upon promptly
  • Dangerous defects require immediate removal from service
