Car Park Barrier & Gate Inspections

PUWER inspections for automatic barriers, rising bollards, speed gates, sliding gates and swing gates.

LDN Inspection Services provides thorough inspections of automatic gates, barriers and access control systems under PUWER. Our inspectors examine motors, safety devices, force levels and structural components, delivering clear digital reports with photographic evidence.

Barrier & Gate Inspections

Automatic gates, barriers, rising bollards and powered access systems are classified as work equipment under PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998) and must be maintained in a safe condition with periodic inspection by a competent person.

Powered gates and barriers present serious crushing, shearing and trapping hazards. Inadequate safety devices, excessive closing forces and faulty emergency release mechanisms have been linked to fatal incidents. Regular inspection and force testing are essential.

Our inspections cover the complete system including the gate or barrier structure, motor and automation, safety edges, photocells, force levels, control systems and emergency release. We provide detailed reports with recommendations.

Key Requirements

  • PUWER requires safe maintenance and periodic inspection
  • Safety edges and photocells must be functional
  • Force levels must be within safe limits (BS EN 12453)
  • Emergency release must operate correctly
  • Finger trap zones must be adequately guarded
